Se analiza el papel de diversas teorías y conceptos de las disciplinas científicas, por la necesidad de que la estructura curricular de enfermería tenga un sustento que permita establecer una columna vertebral en la educación. Se mencionan diferentes acepciones utilizadas para el término teoría y se señala que una teoría científica es fundamento de la práctica en la enfermería. El proceso educativo de la enfermera exige que el docente realice actividades por, con y para el estudiante. La realidad es que el docente en enfermería tiene una responsabilidad moral y social en el proceso educativo del profesional del cuidado al enfermo. Se considera que el término estructura conceptual es sinónimo de modelo y de esquema conceptuales. Los conceptos se unen para establecer interrelaciones que constituyen hipótesis básicas de una ciencia. El beneficio de contar con una teoría de enfermería estriba en proporcionar conocimientos para mejorar la práctica mediante descripciones, explicaciones, predicciones y control de los fenómenos relacionados con la actividad a desarrollar; dichos conocimientos actúan, a su vez, como herramientas auxiliares en la comprensión del cuidado al enfermo. La estructura conceptual puede ser usada con fines educativos y permite proporcionar al estudiante y al profesional una guía para su práctica, lo cual influirá de manera positiva en una mayor identificación entre el grupo.

The necessity to development a curricular structure for nursing, based on concepts and own theory that let establish a solid stone in nursing education. Here is established that there are many meanings to theory and it is well known that a scientific theory will be the best beginning in for nurse practice. The educational method for nurse needs an adult, the teacher, does something for, with and to another people, the student. The reality is that the teacher in nursing has the ethic and social responsibility for the nurses learning process about health care. Many times the term concept structure is taken as a synonym mous for conceptual model and conceptual scheme. The concepts are linking to establish relations in order to build basic hypothesis for science. The transcendental of a theory for nursing is to give background of knowledge to improve the practice thought delineations, explanations, predictions and control of phenomenons related with the nursing practice. They are useful tools that let us greater comprehensiveness about the nurse working. The conceptual structure can be use for educational purpose and let to the professional and students of nursing a guide to practice and it will let more identification between the group.
