Trata-se de um estudo qualitativo, do tipo exploratório e descritivo. Objetiva mos conhecer as motivações do sujeito testemunha de Jeová para a recusa da transfusão sanguínea e sua visão sobre o trabalho da enfermagem. Participaram cinco membros da religião que foram hospitalizados e precisaram de transfusão. Para coleta dos dados utilizamos entrevistas semi-estruturadas. Percebemos que essas pessoas negam a transfusão, por basearem-se nas escrituras bíblicas e, por isso, buscam alternativas para substituir esse procedimento. A equipe de enfermagem teve seu trabalho elogiado, mas ainda carece de informações sobre as condutas e o modo de vida adotada por tais religiosos.
This is a qualitative study of exploratory and descriptive type. We aim to know the motivations of the subject Jehovah's Witness to the refuses of blood transfusion and his vision on the work of nursing. Participated five members of the religion that have been hospitalized and they needed transfusion. For the data colection we used semi-structured interviews. We realized that these people deny the transfusion, for be based on biblical scriptures and, therefore, they seek alternatives to replace this procedure. Still, the nursing team had his work praised, but still lacks information on the conducts and the way of life adopted by such religious.
