sífilis congênita é relevante morbidade neonatal. Buscou-se identifícar o perfil neonatal da sífilis congêníta - SC em um munícípio no interior do Estado do Ceará. Empregou-se um estudo documental e quantitativo, através da avalíação de fichas de notíficação compulsóría do agravo no período de janeiro de 2005 a janeíro de 2007. Foi possível identifícar catorze casos de SC no período, dos quais metade esteve representada por neonatos prematuros e de baixo peso ao nascer. Atribuí-se a SC um caráter prevenível com ações básicas em saúde e a ímporlância do conhecimento das variáveís epidemíológicas para medidas de controle do agravo .
Congenital Syphilís is a relevant infant morbidity. It was inquired to ídentify the profile of Infant Congenital Syphílis in a country-síde town ín the state of Ceará. A quantitatíve and documental research was carried out through evaluations of the compulsory notifyíng forms of the dísease during the period from January 2005 to January 2007. It was possíble to identífy fourleen cases of Congenítal Syphilis duríng that period, ín whích half of them were represented by premature ínfants, and these ones being of a low weight by the time they were bom. It is assígned for Congenital Syphílis a preventive character with basíc health actions and the imporlance of the knowledge of the epidemiologíc varíables to make efforls to control the disease .
