Trata-se de revisão bibliográfica do tipo descritiva de abordagem qualitativa. Dados revelam que em 2006 o número de mortos em acidentes de trânsito ficou perto de 37 mil, gerando aumento nos gastos com resgate às vitimas, hospitais, tratamentos e atendimentos policiais. O estudo teve como objetivo identificar na literatura existente medidas de segurança utilizadas em veículos automotores e descrever a importância destas medidas usadas para redução de lesões. A fundamentação teve como base dados eletrônicos de órgãos governamentais e periódicos no período de 1997/2007. Ficou evidenciado que o uso do cinto de segurança é a principal medida de prevenção .
This text is about bibliographical revision of the descriptive type of quantitaive boarding. Data disclose that in 2006. This study had as objective to identify in the existing literature measure of security used in auto machine vehicles and to describe the importance of these used measures for reduction of injures.
