Estudo histórico-social cujo objeto é o significado do silêncio dado pela imprensa do Rio de Janeiro sobre a participação da enfermagem no primeiro transplante renal realizado no Hospital Pedro Ernesto, Rio de Janeiro, em 1968.
Objetivos:
descrever o contexto sociopolítico do ano em que ocorreu o primeiro transplante renal no Hospital Pedro Ernesto; analisar o silêncio da imprensa sobre a participação da enfermagem no primeiro transplante renal no Hospital; e discutir o sentido do silêncio que envolveu a enfermagem no setor de nefrologia. A análise ocorreu articulando-se fontes primárias, secundárias e o referencial das diversas formas do silêncio de Orlandi. Os resultados apontaram para um possível silenciamento sobre os enfermeiros que participaram do procedimento, porém o real é o que está em silêncio e não o sentido atribuído a ele. Dessa forma o leitor poderá dar qualquer outro sentido a esse silêncio sobre a participação dos enfermeiros no procedimento.
The object of this sociohistorical piece of research is the meaning of silence given by the Rio de Janeiro press, on the participation of nursing in the first kidney transplant carried through at Hospital Pedro Ernesto, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1968.
Objectives:
to describe the sociopolitical context in the year when the first kidney transplant took place at Hospital Pedro Ernesto; to analyze the silence of the press on the participation of nursing in the first kidney transplant at that Hospital, and to argue the direction of silence involving the nursing personnel in the nephrology department. Analysis is made upon articulation of primary and secondary sources with the theoretical framework on the different forms of silence by Orlandi. Results have pointed to possible silencing on the nurses participating in the procedure; however, the Real is what is silent and not the meaning imparted to it. This way the reader is free to convey any other meaning to this silence on the participation of the nurses in the procedure.
