Children and adolescents of working class victims of domestic violence and abandon put the in the need to substitute their own family for a ôstep familyõ (Child and adolescents act, 1990) thus avoiding internment. The present work makes a reflection on the difficulties and conflicts that come from this experience. It shows that in many occasions these adolescents find themselves with a family that has cultural values so different that the ones they have, making them feel also rejected. In addition there is the fact that some of these step families may look at the adolescents as a non pay worker which means that he will keep on living the violence situations and humiliations with significant consequences for his life...
