As representações sociais dos enfermeiros sobre o trabalho com os portadores do HIV/AIDS

O presente estudo teve como objetivo descrever o que pensam os enfermeiros sobre o trabalho com os portadores do HIV/AIDS, quais as suas dificuldades e as conseqüências deste trabalho em suas vidas pessoais. A partir da teoria das representações sociais foi possível compreender que os enfermeiros têm como ideal atender de forma integral os portadores de AIDS, e das diversas dificuldades decorrentes da relação com o paciente com HIV/AIDS, os enfermeiros revelam ambigüidades entre o pensar, sentir e o fazer. A AIDS representa a morte, a doença incurável e isso mobiliza muito os enfermeiros. Eles entram em conflito e desenvolvem estratégias contra o sofrimento ocasionado pelo convívio com os pacientes e procuram preservarem-se por intermédio da valorização da vida e modificando atitudes.
The study had as objective to describe what nurses think on the work of taking care of HIV/AIDS patients, what their difficulties and the consequences of this kind of work in their personal lives. Starting from the theory of social representations it was possible to understand that nurses have as an ideal the assistance in an integral manner of HIV/AIDS patients, but the contamination mechanism, the AIDS social stigma and several current difficulties on the relationship with those patients reveal ambiguities on their actions and feelings. The nurses conflicts make them develop strategies against the suffering caused by the conviviality with patients and also try to preserve through the worth of living the modification of their atitudes.
