O objetivo geral deste estudo foi compreender a articulação existente entre um serviço residencial do município de Santo André e a proposta conceitual de desinstitucionalização. Para tanto, buscou-se identificar e analisar: as concepções sobre serviço residencial na visão dos atores que vivenciam e constroem o dia-a-dia deste serviço; as variáveis estruturais e organizacionais do serviço residencial e os componentes do dia-a-dia dos moradores. Optou-se pela pesquisa qualitativa de acordo com a natureza empírica dos dados e da escolha dos instrumentos para abordagem técnica do trabalho de campo e análise dos resultados. Os dados foram analisados à luz do conceito de desinstitucionalização. Valendo-se dos temas emergentes foram elaboradas três categorias empíricas: concepções sobre serviço residencial; variáveis estruturais e organizacionais do serviço residencial e dia-a-dia dos moradores do serviço residencial. A análise final orientou-se para a compreensão das possibilidades e limites produzidos pelo serviço residencial do município de Santo André no processo de desinstitucionalização.
The general objective of this study was to comprehend the joint existing between a residential service of Santo André City and the conceptual proposal of deinstitutionalization. For that, we tried to identify and analise: the conception about residential service by the view of the actors who experience and build the day-by-day of this service; the structural and organizational variables of the residential service and the components of the day-by-day of the residents. It was chosen for the qualitative research according to the empirical nature of the data and the choice of the instruments to the technical approach of the field work and analysis of the results. The data were analised by the light of the concept of deinstitutionalization.
