Identificar a produção científica de custos em enfermagem é um ponto de referência para se verificar as tendências dos estudos e pesquisas já realizadas sobre o assunto, uma vez que a recente preocupação com o mesmo deu-se notadamente a partir da década de 1970 e 1980, principalmente em decorrência da elevação mundial de gastos com o setor de saúde. Este trabalho identificou e analisou a produção científica internacional no campo específico de custos em enfermagem, no período de 1966 a 2000. Para identificação da produção científica, utilizou-se de um instrumento de busca on-line em uma base de dados de abrangência internacional. Para a análise, utilizou-se da bibliometria como instrumento para medir a atividade científica nesse campo. A importância desse estudo pode ser evidenciada quando identifica além dos temas mais estudados sobre esse assunto, qual a procedência e qual a origem dos mesmos, ou seja, possibilita a identificação de quais temas estão sendo desenvolvidos em quais países e em quais tipos de instituição.
Identification of scientific production related to nursing costs is a reference to verify the trends of studies and research carried out on the subject, once the recent preoccupation with this subject began markdely from the decade of 1970 and 1980, mainly due to worldwide cost increases in the healthcare sector. This work identified and analyzed international scientific production in the specific field of nursing costs in the period from 1966 to 2000. For the identification of scientific production, an on-line search instrument in an international database was used. First, amongst the database found, the one that best attended our needs was selected, as well as the search instrument that best identified the scientific production related to this research in the chosen database. For the analysis of the bibliographic material, bibliometry was used as an instrument to measure scientific activity in the field. The importance of this study is evidenced when it identifies, apart from the most studied topics, their origin, i.e., it is possible to identify what topics are being developed in which countries and in what type of institution.
